Marisa Macklin is a Contemporary Figurative Painter who works out of her art studio in Northern California. She received her BFA in Studio Arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM, and since graduating in 2014, worked in fine art galleries for 9 years. Marisa has received 8 awards for her paintings, has had her artwork displayed in 18 juried group shows, a few public collections, 4 solo shows, and 2 museum shows, as well as published in 5 magazines.

In November 2019, Marisa debuted her first solo exhibition, “Impermanent Fascination,” premiering at Jackknife Gallery. Her second solo exhibition in 2020, “Momentary Captivation,” was displayed at the International Art Museum of America in San Francisco. Two of her paintings were accepted into the de Young Museum for a juried group show titled, “de Young Open,” from October 2020 to January 2021. In 2021 she exhibited in a juried group show at the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery (SFWAG) titled, “Slice of Life,” and had another solo show titled, “Loosey Goosey,” at Jackknife Gallery. She was accepted into a juried group show at the SFWAG titled, “Bold Colors’’ and was awarded the Juror’s Choice award for her painting, “Puff Puff Passing By.”  In 2022, she was accepted into a juried group show titled, “Capture the Moment’’ at SFWAG where her paintings nearly sold out. That same year Marisa sold work in the Arts for Oakland Kids quarterly auction highlighting artist Mel Ramos, as well as, had her fourth solo exhibition in Fort Ross, CA.

Marisa didn’t paint much all of 2023 because she got married and moved from Oakland, CA to a 40 acre off-grid homestead in Cazadero, CA where she spent the year learning how to live off the land and renovating an out building into an art studio. In 2024, Marisa began working on her new series, “Fashion, Fruit, and Fowl” and was published in CanvasRebel Magazine in the February and December issues. In 2025, her work will be published in University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Journal of Arts and Sciences, as well as, Create! Magazine, both for January issues.
